Introduction to Layers

The PhotoShop Layers Palette is used to accomplish many image compositing tasks. The objective for this lesson is to learn how to exploit the layer stack in order to arrange multiple images and objects on the canvas.

In this lesson, students will detach the pear and rose image from solid, white backgrounds. Then they will build the composite displayed above by adding new layers and arranging then Layers Palette. Additional lessons include the introduction of the several tools in the Toolbox. They include the the the Magic Wand Tool, the Magic Eraser Tool, the Eyedropper Tool, the Gradient Tool, and the Pattern Stamp Tool.   Home
